Dead Alive
Dead Alive, known as Braindead in New Zealand, is a cult zombie comedy splatstick horror film directed by Peter Jackson and often regarded as one of the goriest films of all time.
When Lionel Cosgrove’s mother is bitten by a Sumatran Rat-Monkey, a legendary hybrid resulting from the rape of monkeys by plague rats on Skull Island, she slowly becomes a flesh craving zombie. To maintain a budding romance with the sweet Paquita, he keeps his mother and her zombie pals locked up in the basement until they burst out during a party to turn the guests into the appetizers.
An important mark of a good zombie movie is finding new, creative and messy ways to dispatch the dead. Dead Alive does not not disappoint, when Lionel grabs a small rotary blade lawnmower to cut a path through the zombies hordes to saves his love.
