Videodrome

The owner of small cable television station Civic TV Channel 83 accidentally stumbles upon a broadcast signal showing extreme violence, torture and murder. Intrigued and believing snuff TV is the future of cable programming, he begins pirating the signal. The signal soon causes him hallucinations, which then begin to manifest themselves physically.

As he gets closer to discovering the origins of the signal, he gets sucked into a world of sadomasochistic sex with a psychiatrist (Blondie), political conspiracies, and bodily transformations.

Described as techno-surrealist, Videodrome was written and directed by David Cronenberg and based on his own childhood fears of seeing things he shouldn’t on late night pirated television signals.

Long live the new flesh.
