Sledgehammer’s claim to fame is as the first slasher flick shot on VHS and released straight to video, but now, for the first time ever, it is being released on DVD to remind future generations how not to make movies. It’s easy to hate mainstream Hollywood movies until you experience the polar opposite.
A boy, locked away so his adulterous mother can cavort, finds a sledgehammer and a way out of the locked room to splatter his mother and her lover. Ten years later a group of thirty-something party-goers find their way into that very same house where they meet similar fates.
Sledgehammer was directed by David A. Prior and starring his March 1984 Playgirl Playmate of the Month Brother Ted. While the movie itself is a complete and utter waste of time, it has become somewhat valuable in it’s original World Video big box clamshell VHS release.

Though Sledgehammer is a SOV slasher classic, I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Ever. Don’t be bamboozled by bad dialogue and droopy boobies.
